Why this site exists

In mid-2025, the US free PrEP landscape fractured. The federal Ready, Set, PrEP program ended. Gilead discontinued free Truvada. New injectable options launched with limited access information. And most existing websites — including Planned Parenthood, state health departments, and community organizations — still reference programs that no longer exist.

We built FreePrEP.org because the information people need to access free HIV prevention is scattered across dozens of outdated websites. We consolidate it into one accurate, current, consumer-friendly resource.

What we do

FreePrEP.org is a free information resource. We help you understand which programs and services can provide PrEP at zero cost based on your insurance status, income, state, and preferences. We don't prescribe medication, provide medical advice, or collect your health information.

We maintain up-to-date information on every major PrEP assistance program in the United States, including pharmaceutical manufacturer programs (Gilead Advancing Access, ViiVConnect), state PrEP Drug Assistance Programs, nonprofit copay foundations, and telehealth platforms.

How we're funded

FreePrEP.org is operated by Scout Theory LLC. The site is funded through affiliate referral commissions and display advertising. When you click certain links on our site and sign up for a service, we may earn a commission — at absolutely no cost to you. The services we refer you to are free to you whether you use our link or not.

Our affiliate relationships are always disclosed. They never influence our recommendations. If a non-affiliate program is genuinely the best option for your situation, that's what we recommend. Our only durable advantage is your trust, and we won't trade it for a referral fee.

For complete details, see our affiliate disclosure.

Our editorial standards

We never recommend a program without verifying it's currently operational. We update program status within 48 hours of publicly announced changes. All medical information is sourced from CDC, HIV.gov, FDA-approved prescribing information, or peer-reviewed research. We don't fabricate testimonials, reviews, or statistics.

FreePrEP.org is not a medical provider. Always consult a healthcare professional about whether PrEP is right for you.
