How We Make Money
FreePrEP.org is operated by Scout Theory LLC. We earn revenue through affiliate referral commissions, which means that when you click certain links on our site and sign up for a service, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
Our current affiliate relationships include:
- MISTR — We earn a referral commission when users sign up through our referral link or code (ANDR735). MISTR's PrEP service is free to you regardless of whether you use our link.
- Other telehealth platforms — We may earn commissions through affiliate networks (such as FlexOffers, Rakuten, or CJ Affiliate) when you sign up for services through links on our site.
We may also earn revenue in the future through display advertising, STI testing kit affiliate programs, health insurance marketplace referrals, and grant funding.
How This Affects Our Recommendations
It doesn't. Our editorial recommendations are based on three criteria, in this order:
- Cost to you — free options are always ranked above paid options
- Coverage quality — what's included (medication, labs, visits, delivery)
- Accessibility — state availability, insurance acceptance, ease of use
If a platform we don't earn commissions from is the best option for a user, we recommend it. If a platform we do earn commissions from charges fees while a competitor is free, we recommend the free competitor. Our credibility as a public health resource is our only durable competitive advantage — compromising it for short-term commissions would be self-defeating.
How to Identify Affiliate Links
Pages containing affiliate links include a disclosure notice at the top or bottom of the page. Affiliate links to external sites are functional whether or not you arrived through our referral — the service you receive is identical either way. We never receive any of your personal information from these referrals.
Non-Affiliate Content
Our eligibility tool, state directory, and program status information are not monetized. These features exist to help you navigate the PrEP access landscape and generate no direct revenue for us.
