These 12 jurisdictions operate PrEP Drug Assistance Programs (DAPs), according to NASTAD (updated January 2026). These programs cover some combination of medication, lab work, and clinical visits for eligible residents.

This gap is most acute in the US South, which bears the highest HIV burden but has the fewest state assistance programs. If you live in a non-DAP state and are uninsured, your primary options are Gilead Advancing Access MAP, telehealth platforms, and FQHCs.
