Free PrEP in Oregon
Oregon has no state PrEP DAP, but strong policies compensate: pharmacists can prescribe PrEP (90-day supply with refills), Medicaid (OHP) covers all adults at ≤138% FPL, and Cover All People extends state-funded Medicaid to undocumented residents. Cascade AIDS Project provides robust PrEP navigation statewide.

Oregon has approximately 8,000 people living with HIV with about 250 new diagnoses in 2022 (rate of 5.9 per 100,000 — below the national average). Multnomah County (Portland metro) accounts for about half of all state diagnoses. Oregon's relatively low HIV burden means fewer dedicated resources, but the state's progressive policies — Medicaid expansion, pharmacist prescribing authority, and coverage for undocumented residents — help compensate.
