HIV & PrEP Data in Washington
Washington has approximately 14,500 people living with HIV with about 530 new diagnoses in 2022 (rate of 6.8 per 100,000 — below the national average). King County/Seattle accounts for the majority of state diagnoses and is an EHE priority jurisdiction. Washington has been among the top 5 states for PrEP-to-population rate since AIDSVu began tracking — the state's PrEP DAP is associated with significantly higher PrEP uptake. Black residents have disproportionately higher HIV rates despite being a small share of the population.
