Detroit metro accounts for ~two-thirds of Michigan's PLWH. Black men's HIV prevalence: 1,110.8 per 100,000 vs 143.3 for white men. PrEP growth has disproportionately benefited white men aged 25-44. Michigan reformed HIV criminalization in 2019 but blood donation by PLWH remains criminal.

Know Your Rights

Minor Consent

Michigan's minor consent law covers STI treatment but not prevention. PrEP is not explicitly covered. Corktown Health serves patients as young as 16.

Gender-Affirming Care

Michigan has not banned gender-affirming care for minors. 2023 Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act expansion covers sexual orientation and gender identity.

HIV Criminalization

Reformed in 2019 — narrowed scope and recognized viral suppression. Blood donation by PLWH remains criminal.

Undocumented Residents

Gilead Advancing Access has no immigration requirement. FQHCs and Corktown Health serve all patients regardless of status.
